Sukhvinder has been practicing in the field of mental health and the counselling field since 1994. She has practiced in different positions over the years with various non-government agencies. She spent 13 years in England and practiced as a School Counsellor for 8 years for a National Child Protection Agency. She also has extensive experience of working with mental health and other relevant organizations since 1994. The main focus of her work has been associated with individual, co-therapy, and family therapy.
Currently, Sukhvinder is employed as Child and Family Therapist at The Children-Foundation in Surrey, BC. She has been involved in this agency since 2007. She is also a clinical supervisor at her private practice. She supervises intern students enrolled in a MA in Counselling Psychology program from a number of Universities in Canada (UBC, University of Victoria, SFU, City University of Seattle, Athabasca, Yorkville, and Alder University). Sukhvinder offers therapy in Punjabi, Hindi, and English.
She has been offering therapy to families who have been involved in ICBC injuries, family work, relationship conflict, marriage counselling, parenting, mental health, and loss and grief, domestic violence, alcohol/drug misuse, relationship conflict, trauma, depression, and anxiety.
Sukhvinder is familiar with evidence based practices and applies approaches such as cognitive-behavioural, trauma-focused CBT, narrative, attachment based approaches, Virginia Satir family therapy, solution-focused, client-centred, motivational interviewing, behavioural family therapy, and culturally specific interventions to meet the needs of families from diverse backgrounds.Education Background:
