The AFA Chemical Peel program

AFA antioxidant facial peels are performed only in a physician's office by skin care specialist. AFA facial peels consist of high concentrations of AFAs, and biweekly basis. They will dramatically accelerate the effectiveness of your skincare program.

We recommend that you have at least six AFA peels biweekly intervals. Since most patients experience rapid improvement in their skin after their AFA peel, many choose to continue their facials on an ongoing basis as a part of their skin care regimen.

To address your skin's specific issues, your physician or skin care specialist will help you decide whether more than six peels are necessary, and what AFA facial peel strength are required.

What are AFAs?

AFAs are the new age generation of the glycolic peel. AFAs are based on the same natural acidic amino acids that serve to retain moisture in human skin. They are also potent antioxidants an extremely helpful against photo pigmentation. They are remarkably free of irritation at effective pH levels.

All skin types are able to utilize this amazing treatment, anyone from normal skin types to cancer patients, pregnant or nursing women, rosacea base skins, actinic keratoses, and most acne based skins with No skin irritation and no downtime.

"AFA' is an acronym for Amino acid Filaggrin based Antioxidants. Filaggrin is a protein that occurs in the upper layer of the skin, the responsible for the skin's ability to retain moisture. It’s like the moat around the castle, protecting the skin from environmental exposures, Allergens, etc.

AFAs Have 7 Unique Advantages as Topical Anti-Aging Cosmeceuticals:

  1. AFAs promote greater moisture retention in human skin
    2. AFAs have 3 fold greater antioxidant potency than AHAs
    3. AFAs are very effective exfoliants

Why AFA instead of AHA peels?

AFAs have Little Irritation Compared to AHAs.

There is little irritation with the AFA Gels when compared to other peels as the other peels are not an acid the skin recognizes which causes an inflammatory response in the skin. All chemical base peels are needed in the skin health world, but why not have one you can do over lunchtime and leave with that amazing glow.

MASKS

Masks are mandatory to wear upon entering Sereno Wellness & Spa.

This is for your protection and the protection of our staff, We have non-medical for purchase for $2. If you are in need of a disposable mask, please call us when outside the facility and we can bring you one at the door.

SANITATION AND DISINFECTING

The treatment rooms will be sanitized and disinfected before and after each patient. Our staff will wear protective gear at all times.

SOCIAL DISTANCIMG

Patients will enter the facility at the time of their appointment. We ask that you arrive alone and n 5 minutes before your appointment for screening. Please follow the directional signage.

PLEXI GLASS BARRIES

Plexiglass barriers have been installed in our reception area where the required distancing cannot be maintained.

PRE-SCREENING

All patients will be pre-screened by questionnaire at the time of booking as well as upon arrival of the appointment for symptoms of COVID-19 upon entering the facility and temperature taken and recorded. This is non-negotiable. If your temperature exceeds 38 degrees your appointment will be rescheduled and you will be guided to a designated screening center.

Staff will also be monitored twice daily.

Patients who have travelled outside of BC in the past 14 days are asked not to book.

HAND WASHING and SANITIZING

Everyone is encouraged to sanitise their hands before and after their treatments. Hospital grade sanitizer will be available at front desk and in each room.

APPOINTMENT BOOKING

We are allowing more time in between appointment and staggering our practitioners. This is to avoid crowding in the waiting room. You may be asked to wait in your car and we will call you to enter for your appointment.

CANCELLING APPOINTMENTS

Cancel you appointment if you are experiencing any cold / flu like symptoms. Cancellation fees will not be applied however we would appreciate 24 hours’ notice.*

USE OF FACILITES

Until further notice the use of our change rooms, relaxation lounge and infrared saunas will be closed.

There will be restricted use of washrooms.

All our staff are thoroughly trained to execute protocol.
